What is IID's EnergyFlex program?

EnergyFlex is the program that rewards you for being a bit more flexible with your energy use. As a participant, you’ll help make energy cleaner and more affordable for everyone — plus you’ll get up to $25 when you enroll, and ongoing rewards for each season you participate.

Here’s how it works: on extremely hot days, energy demand can spike so much that getting power to everyone who needs it can become inefficient — and expensive. On days when we anticipate there will be a high demand for energy, EnergyFlex will schedule FlexHours events to shift some of your energy use out of the hours when demand is highest. EnergyFlex offers two different options to participate:

• Have a Wi-Fi enabled smart thermostat? When FlexHours events are scheduled, we’ll work with your thermostat to automatically adjust your home’s temperature by a few degrees — no action needed on your part!
• Don't have a smart thermostat? We'll notify you when FlexHours events are scheduled so you can reduce your energy use on your own by delaying energy-intensive activities like laundry or dishwashing — you choose how you participate and no penalties if you skip!
